Pinterest is a bulletin board style website that allows you to share photos and “pin” to your own personal boards. It started up only a few years ago and was quick to make a mobile app for all around compatibility and mobility. By clicking on the pictures users are able to click through to the websites or coupon deals that they are attached to. This has lead Pinterest to be a leader in traffic to publishers with 3.68% in September. They are second to Facebook which accounts for 10%. To put it in perspective, Pinterest drives more traffic to publishers than Twitter, LinkedIn, Reddit, and Google+ combined!



The implications to marketers would be important if  a company is looking to advertise on social media sites with the intention of driving increased traffic to their websites. The advantage to Pinterest is that it is completely free to make boards and pin information, so this may be effective and less costly than paying for advertisements for some companies.
