There has been a lot of talk recently about whether or not advertisements on social media sites are a good thing. In an interview with Brian Boland, Facebook’s VP of product marketing for ads, says ” what’s not to like?”. Boland has been the brain behind Facebook advertising for the past four years. He has seen Facebook’s network increase from 230 million to more than 1.15 billion. This makes Facebook a great opportunity for companies to advertise with.
In a recent study done by a performance marketing firm called Nanigans, it was shown that Facebook click-through rates for ads have increased by 375% from Q3 2012 to Q2 2013. This shows that even though these ads may be an annoyance to some, they can also be helpful for people because they are tailored to their likes.
Facebook is also working on making the process easier to set up an ad and is experimenting with ways to include television campaigns on social media.
Overall, Facebook proves that with over 1.15 billion users there are many opportunities for advertisers to get in front of these people every day.
